Case study explained: Spook monitoring services
The brief was to design and develop a portal system, allowing clients to access a secure area to view & download sensitive data, such as product & contractory information, floor plans, management reports and other personalised information.
Anytime, anywhere chart generation of sensor data – clients must have the ability to log support calls and plot charts of sensor data, from anywhere in the World – to create graphs from historical sensor data, the system would need to integrate with Spook’s software applications (installed at the various client locations) to capture sensor data.
An integrated reporting tool was a major requirement to reduce costs and speed-up the process involved in creating weekly management reports for some 50 clients.
Early 2006 sapere audemus began developing a tailor-made portal system, designed to allow clients to access secure personalised information.
The integrated chart generation tool makes use of latest technologies including XML, PHP5 and SWF to create flash animated charts in realtime.
So how does it work?
The sensor & alarm readings, used to create charts and alarm logs, are sent to the sensor database, from the various SPOOK console installations (at the respective client locations). The data is then read into the database using automated file reader scripts, which run every 10-15 minutes. Once the data is captured, it is made available to clients through secure access to their mySpook area. The alarm log details information which assists clients in analysing the operating environment that triggered the alarm.
Integrated incident support logging system
The support call logging system allows clients to log support calls, online, and from anywhere in the World, via their personalised secure login area at http://www.spook.co.uk/.
Improved client communication
The integrated reporting tool reduces the time and effort involved in producing high volume, personalised customer reports. The tool automatically generates reports (in PDF format) capturing sensor data in form of a chart, contact information and other client specific information that spook wish to distribute.
Spook and sapere audemus are working closely to enhance the mySpook experience for their clients.
